Colonel Sofiya Qureshi is in the news because she, along with Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, briefed the media about India's "Operation Sindoor" against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

She completed her master’s degree in Biochemistry from Maharaja Sayajirao University in 1997.

Col Sofiya Qureshi is an officer in the Mechanised Infantry and made history in 2016 as the first Indian woman to lead a team at a multinational army exercise.
