A 21-year-old daughter of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Davinder Saini was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Canada on Tuesday. Vanshika Saini went missing on April 22, after she left her house to go to work. However, the victim did not return. The incident came to light when her friends went to check on her after she did not come for an exam. Realising she had been missing, they informed the police.
Vanshika, who was a resident of Saini Mohali in Derabassi, moved to Canada about two and a half years ago to pursue higher education after completing her 12th grade. She was enrolled in a two-year course and had taken her final exam on April 18.
Recently, she had also started working part-time. Vanshika left the house early on April 22 to go to work, however, she did not return.

She was also scheduled to take an IELTS exam on April 25.
One of her friends, who was supposed to accompany her for the exam, tried to contact her repeatedly that morning, but her phone was switched off. When the friend visited Vanshika’s home after the exam, she found out Vanshika hadn’t returned since April 22.
She then informed Vanshika’s family in India and her friends in Canada, who began searching for her. Her friends also reached out to a local Member of Parliament, who sent out multiple emails to assist in the search efforts.
After five days of searching, her body was found near a beach.
Following the incident, High Commission of India in Ottawa, said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Vanshika, a student from India in Ottawa. The matter has been taken up with the concerned authorities, and the cause is under investigation as per the local police. We are in close contact with the bereaved kin and local community associations to provide all possible assistance."
