The midi dress, designed by Alessandra Rich, featured a slouchy high neckline, long sleeves cinched at the wrist, and a gently gathered waist. A subtle fabric ruching at the waist for style added texture without disrupting the print’s rhythm. According to reports, Middleton had previously worn the same dress at the Garter Day Service in June 2023, although styled quite differently then.
She accessorised the look with a black flower and feather teardrop fascinator by Juliette Botterill, adding a sculptural note to the ensemble. Her choice of footwear—gold calfskin pumps by Ralph Lauren—offered a flash of quiet opulence, while the Nano Montreal bag in deep toffee by DeMellier, a London-based British brand, grounded the outfit with a modern edge.
For many, Kate’s appearance echoed the sartorial legacy of her mother-in-law, the late Princess Diana. Diana had famously worn a similar white dress with black polka dots to the Epsom Races around 1986—a structured two-piece with bold shoulders and a sharply defined waist. Completing the tribute, Kate wore the Collingwood diamond and pearl earrings that once belonged to Diana, originally gifted by Collingwood jewellers as a wedding present.
