As reported by Republic, the actor was taken into custody on May 8 in Anchalummoodu, a town in Kerala, after he allegedly shouted at hotel staff when they asked him to check out. Vinayakan had been staying at the hotel while shooting for a film nearby. When the staff couldn’t calm him down, they contacted the police, who then took him into custody. A case was registered against him under Section 118 (a) of the Kerala Police Act, which deals with being intoxicated in a public place.
Videos of the actor yelling at hotel staff have surfaced on social media. A police official confirmed to Republic that Vinayakan was drunk during the incident. “He was drunk and was shouting at everyone, even the police,” the officer said.
