In a bold response to the dastardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, that left 22 innocent civilians dead, India launched strikes at 9 "known terror" targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), killing at least 100 terrorists. However, along with the Pahalgam terror attack victims, India's Operation Sindoor also got justice for US journalist Daniel Pearl.
Over 100 terrorists were killed in the precise strikes under Operation Sindoor, including the most wanted Abdul Rauf Azhar. Abdul Rauf was the brother of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar and was involved in the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight in 1999. He was wanted in a string of terror attacks in India, including the one on Parliament and the Pathankot terror attack.
Azhar's role in the IC-814 hijacking led to the release of Omar Saeed Sheikh, who later kidnapped and killed American-Jewish journalist Daniel Pearl. A video was also released of Pearl's beheading later.
