‘Living The Dream!’: Aussie Woman Makes Guinness World Record For Largest Collection Of Minions Memorabilia

Remember the time when ‘Hello’ turned into ‘Bello’ for millions of people? All thanks to the hit ‘Despicable Me’ franchise that introduced the world to the much-loved Minions. The 2010 movie was a hit not only because of its fanatics and fun yet thrilling plot, but also because of the tiny ‘yellow menaces’ that made every frame worth a watch. Understandably, the movie quickly turned many into fans. However, among all the fans, it seems like this Australian woman took everything to another level! Believe it or not, her love for Minions reached a stage where she eventually ended up making a world record! Yes, Australia’s Liesl Benecke reportedly set a world record with the Guinness World Records for her ‘largest collection of Minions memorabilia’!

Opening up about her obsession with the ‘yellow cuties’, Benecke shared that her love for Minions started when the first movie was released. The film allegedly left her ‘laughing so much’- along with leaving a ‘huge impression’ on her. “I remember laughing so much at the cute, little pill-shaped henchmen. They certainly made a huge impression on me,” she was quoted as saying to the Guinness World Records. The fan reportedly has 1,035 Minions memorabilia pieces, which she has been collecting over the past 15 years. From clothes, soft toys, figurines to keychains, posters and a tattoo- you name it, the woman has it all.

Her love is something that has been accepted by people around her. She is reportedly popular as ‘the Minion lady’ at her office, while her daughter believes that she might need ‘another house’ to store her collection! “My daughter says I need another house just to store my Minions, but I love being surrounded by their beautiful, bright yellow smiles,” the woman was further quoted as saying. “They are in every room and on every spare wall. The back of my car is filled with Minions, and when I stop at traffic lights, I see people pointing and laughing at all the Minions in my car,” she further added.

Calling herself a ‘big kid at heart’, Benecke shared that she is always on a ‘lookout’ to collect anything Minions-related. “I’m just a big kid at heart. Since then, I have always been on the lookout for Minions everywhere I go,” Benecke was quoted as saying. Calling Stuart her favorite, Benecke further revealed that her Stuart plushy is the biggest in her collection, who often rides with her in her car.

“My favourite is Stuart, the sassy, one-eyed Minion with attitude, and he is the one I have tattooed on my arm. So many people and kids comment on the tattoo, and we start talking about our mutual love of Minions,” she was quoted as saying.
