Bengaluru is gearing up for the nationwide mock drills on May 7, following the Ministry of Home Affairs' (MHA) guidelines. A total of 244 districts across India, including Bengaluru, will take part in this large-scale exercise.
The drill will begin at 4 pm. It is designed to test how quickly emergency services can respond. They will also teach civilians how to stay safe during emergencies and help practice protecting important buildings and equipment from potential threats.
"As per the direction of MHA to conduct Civil Defence Exercise called "Operation Abhyaas" first mock drill is being conducted at premises of Director General, Civil Defence on 07-05-2025 at 16:00hrs. Similar exercise under Operation Abhyaas will be undertaken by DG, Civil Defence, in coordination with District administrations of Uttara Kannada, Raichur, Mysuru and Mandya at subsequent dates to be decided in this week," read an official statement.

Incoming Air Raid: Simulating an air attack.
Siren Activation: Testing the air raid alert system.

Fire Emergency: Practising fire evacuation and safety measures.
Search & Rescue: Saving people trapped in damaged buildings.
Casualty Evacuation: Moving the injured to safety and medical assistance.
Temporary Hospital Setup: Creating a makeshift medical facility for emergency care.
Civilians’ Evacuation: Relocating people to safe zones or shelters.
