Chandigarh on High Alert

An air warning was issued by the Air Force Station in Chandigarh late Thursday evening, alerting of a possible aerial attack amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Following the alert, air raid sirens were sounded across parts of the city, prompting swift action from the local administration. In an urgent advisory, the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh urged all residents to stay indoors and avoid balconies or open areas as a precautionary measure. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and emergency services remain on high alert.
Police patrols ramped up, and residents are asked to switch off lights and draw curtains, as precautionary measures. The local administration assured that the situation was being closely monitored.
Neighbouring Mohali also issued a precautionary advisory, especially for residents in sectors close to the Chandigarh border.
"There is an alert in some areas of UT Chandigarh. We are advising Mohali residents in bordering sectors as well to remain indoors and away from windows and glass panes," said an official from the Mohali administration.
Residents are strongly urged to stay indoors, keep lights off, draw the curtains and stay vigilant.
