Diljit Dosanjh's MET Gala Outfit Was 1000 Out Of 100, I Knew He Would Carry Kirpan: Surveen Chawla | EXCLUSIVE

Renowned singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh proudly showcased his Punjabi heritage as he made a powerful MET Gala debut in New York on Tuesday. Embracing royalty and tradition, the GOAT singer walked the red carpet in a majestic ensemble inspired by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala - complete with a layered, jewel-encrusted necklace featuring a striking emerald centrepiece. The actor's MET Gala won the internet, and everyone praised his fit. Joining them is Diljit's co-star Surveen Chawla, who was all praise for the singer's look and gave him 1000 marks out of 100!

Sharing her reaction to Diljit's ensemble, Surveen said, "I think Diljit killed it. He's taken Punjab and the whole, the entire community to a global level where Punjabis are recognised. He's had some amazing music that he's made, and I think he's shown the world what Punjabis are capable of, and he's put us on the world map. I salute him for his commitment and his dedication because I think that's what he was made for. I think there was always a bigger intent behind what he was doing, which is now clear, so crystal clear."

Sharing it's uncanny how she knew about Diljit's outfit for MET Gala, Surveen shared, "And it's funny, it's really funny when I found out that Diljit was, knowing who he is and knowing the kind of, I would say, legacy that he carries."

Every detail of Dosanjh’s look radiated Punjabiyat. He wore a richly embellished turban adorned with a feather, carried a lion-headed kirpan, and donned an outfit embroidered with Gurmukhi script and the map of Punjab.

She added, "The aura that he carried on that MET Gala was such a proud Punjabi. It's very uncanny that he was dressed exactly as I thought he would. I don't know, for some strange reason, or maybe I just knew he would be having a kipan in his hand. I just knew. I don't know why it's so uncanny, I'm sharing this actually for the first time. But I was so amazed with the way he got presented. India and the Punjabi community. It was such a well-thought-out outfit. So, so proud. So, proud."

Diljit and Surveen starred in Saadi Love Story in 2013. They again collaborated for another rom-com, Disco Singh (2014).
