'Don't Look At Kamal Sir's Eyes' Silambarasan TR's Acting Lesson To Thug Life Co-Star Ashok Selvan

Director Mani Ratnam's Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan in the lead, is all set to release on June 5.

Ahead of the grand release, the makers have shared a video of actors Trisha, Silambarasan TR, Ashok Selvan interacting with the press, with Kamal Haasan seated with them.

During the chat, Ashok Selvan was asked about his experience of working with the 70-year-old icon, he also shared the one big acting advice Silambarasan TR gave him. He said "My first day, I had to shoot for a big scene with Kamal sir, it was a three-page dialogue, it was really scared. At 7 a.m, I had a shot with Simbu sir, then after that with Kamal sir, so I asked Simbu sir "anna, you've worked in Mani sir's film earlier too, so give me some tips on how to work with Kamal sir, I am nervous working with the legend." He revealed that Silambarasan looked at him, and said "It's going to be difficult...I thought he would sugarcoat his words but he told me the truth. And he also said "Don't look at Kamal sir's eyes."

Ashok Selvan later said, he had to pause when he shot with Kamal Haasan while delivering the dialogue. "It is overwhelming that I am breathing the same air as him...after the scene, he appreciated me."

Ashok Selvan heaped praise on Silambarasan TR, and said he has been a strength of support for him while filming his combination scene.

Ashok Selvan shot to fame after his appearance in Soodhu Kavvum (2013). He then went on to work in films such as Pizza II: Villa (2013) Thegidi (2014), Oh My Kadavule (2020) and Por Thozhil (2023). Thug Life marks his first collaboration with director Mani Ratnam. Silambarasan TR and Ashok Selvan's inclusion in the film was announced after Dulquer Salmaan and Ravi Mohan backed out citing date issues.
