No More Police Station Runs: UP Police Now Bring FIR Copies to Your Doorstep; Here's How

Ghaziabad: In a welcome move aimed at easing the ordeal for victims of crime, the Uttar Pradesh Police have rolled out a citizen-friendly initiative, delivering FIR copies directly to complainants' homes. The step, introduced in Ghaziabad this Saturday on the instructions of Commissioner of Police J. Ravindra Gaur, has already struck a chord with the public.

The aim is simple: to spare victims the trouble of repeated visits to police stations, especially women and senior citizens, and ensure they feel heard and supported throughout the process.

Ghaziabad Sets the Example

The initiative took real shape over the weekend, and its impact was visible right away. In one such instance, Chetna Mittal, a resident of Surya Nagar in Ghaziabad, filed a complaint regarding stolen jewellery. She was informed that a copy of the FIR, once registered, would be delivered straight to her doorstep.

True to the assurance, visuals accessed by Times Now showed the investigating officer and a constable visiting her home and handing over the document in person.

“A Much-Needed Relief for Citizens”

Speaking to Times Now, Chetna expressed her appreciation for the thoughtful step, saying, “It’s a much-needed relief for citizens, especially women.”
