Kolkata Traffic Advisory: The Kolkata Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of the IPL match scheduled today between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. The match will begin at 7.30pm, and special traffic regulations will be enforced from 4pm to 1am to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.

All About Restrictions And Closures

Goods Vehicle Movement: Movement of goods vehicles will be restricted, suspended, or diverted around Eden Gardens and the Maidan area during the advisory period, as per a TOI report.
Restricted Zones: Vehicle movement will be regulated on the following stretches in the vicinity of Victoria Memorial:
  • AJC Bose Road (between DL Khan Road and Cathedral Road)
  • Hospital Road
  • Queensway
  • Cathedral Road
  • Casuarina Avenue
  • Lovers Lane

Road Closures:

Kshudiram Bose Road (Auckland Road), North Brooke Avenue, and Gostha Pal Sarani (Kingsway) will remain closed to all vehicular traffic.
Vehicles bound for the High Court may be rerouted via Esplanade Row West, instead of Auckland Road and North Brooke Avenue, depending on real-time decisions by traffic police.

Traffic diversions and rerouting

To manage traffic flow, several diversions will be implemented. Buses and minibuses from South Kolkata bound for BBD Bag will be diverted through Rani Rashmoni Avenue, Netaji Statue, Government Place East, and Old Court House Street, or via J.L. Nehru Road, Bentinck Street, Mission Row, and Mangoe Lane.
Traffic approaching from North and East Kolkata will be rerouted through Central Avenue, Ganesh Chandra Avenue, Mangoe Lane, S.N. Banerjee Road, Rani Rashmoni Avenue, and Esplanade Row East.
Motorists from South Kolkata may access BBD Bag via AJC Bose Road, St. Georges Gate Road, and Strand Road leading to Kiran Sankar Roy Road. Similarly, vehicles from northern and eastern zones may use B.B. Ganguly Street and S.N. Banerjee Road.
For Howrah-bound buses and minibuses from South and South-West Kolkata using corridors like D.H. Road, Khidderpore Bridge, Belvedere Road, or J.L. Nehru Road, diversions may include St. Georges Gate Road, AJC Bose Road Ramp, Dufferin Road, and Strand Road, as required.

No-Parking Zones and Enforcement

Parking will be strictly prohibited on both sides of several key roads, with active enforcement by traffic personnel in place. The affected roads include:
  • Gostha Pal Sarani (Kingsway)
  • Kshudiram Bose Road (Auckland Road)
  • Government Place East
  • Rani Rashmoni Avenue
  • Old Court House Street
  • Indira Gandhi Sarani (Red Road)
  • Guru Nanak Sarani (Mayo Road)
  • Dufferin Road
No parking will be allowed for taxis, private buses, or other vehicles in and around the Eden Gardens area.
