LIC Fast-Tracks Claims For Pahalgam Terror Victims - No Death Certificate Needed
Following the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, LIC announced claim concessions, allowing alternative proof of death for faster settlements. A helpline has been set up for assistance. Meanwhile, NSE pledged Rs 1 crore to support victims' families, expressing solidarity and grief over the devastating incident.

LIC Steps Up After Pahalgam Attack

New Delhi: Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has announced concessions to expedite claims for victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. LIC assured that they are committed to ensuring that claimants are reached out to and claims are disbursed promptly to the affected families.
"LIC of India expresses deep grief over the death of innocent citizens at Pahalgam in the terrorist attack on April 22. LIC of India is committed to supporting those affected and will expedite claim settlements to provide financial relief." the country’s biggest life insurer said in a statement.
The horrific terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists.
Death Certificate Norm Relaxed, LIC Issues Helpline Number
In response to the tragedy, LIC has extended several concessions to ease the claims process for the victims' families. LIC's CEO and Managing Director Siddharta Mohanty announced that in place of formal death certificates, any official government record confirming the policyholder's death in the attack, or proof of compensation issued by the central or state government, will be accepted as valid evidence.
For further support, claimants can contact the nearest LIC Branch, Division, or Customer Zone. Assistance is also available via the LIC call center at 022 68276827.
Expressing profound grief, National Stock Exchange (NSE) Chief Ashishkumar Chauhan announced that the exchange will contribute Rs 1 crore to the families of the victims as a gesture of solidarity and support.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic terrorist attack in Kashmir on April 22, 2025 where 26 people lost their lives," Chauhan, who is MD and CEO of NSE, said on X.
"In a humble gesture of support, NSE pledged Rs 1 crore to the next of kin of the victims, standing in solidarity with their families during this difficult time," he added.
