Mock Drill in Kerala: Kerala will conduct statewide civil defence mock drills on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, across all 14 districts, following directions from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, the drills—scheduled to begin at 4 PM—will assess emergency preparedness and response in hospitals, schools, government offices, and other key locations.

According to the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), the mock drills will commence at 4 p.m., and the siren alarm will sound thrice for 30 seconds starting at 4 p.m. The drills will be conducted between 4.02 p.m. and 4.29 p.m.

At 4 pm, when the siren sounds, everyone should move to the safest part of their home. Families are encouraged to carry out a 'family drill' together.

A long siren indicates a warning, while a short siren signals that it is safe. People who are outdoors should move indoors promptly. Radios and televisions should be used to follow official updates. Gas and electrical appliances must be switched off as soon as the siren is heard to prevent accidents. It is also essential to ensure the safety of children and pets during the blackout.
