MrBeast and James Patterson Team Up for a Thriller Releasing in 2026

HarperCollins Publishers announced on Wednesday that YouTube sensation Jimmy Donaldson, widely known as MrBeast, is teaming up with bestselling author James Patterson to co-write a novel set for release in 2026. As part of a major global launch, the book will be published in 15 languages.

Currently untitled, the novel will center around 100 contestants competing in a high-stakes international game, where the ultimate prize is a staggering $1 billion. The book will be published by William Morrow in the U.S. and HarperFiction in the U.K.

This marks Donaldson’s debut as a novelist. He is the creator of the MrBeast YouTube channel, which became the world’s most-subscribed in June 2024. He also developed Beast Games for Prime Video and launched the snack brand Feastables. Beyond entertainment, Donaldson is known for his large-scale philanthropic efforts, including #TeamTrees and Beast Philanthropy, which has provided over 20 million meals worldwide.

James Patterson, whose books have sold over 400 million copies globally, is renowned for creating blockbuster series like 'Alex Cross', 'Women’s Murder Club', and 'Maximum Ride'. He has also teamed up with high-profile personalities including former U.S. President Bill Clinton and music icon Dolly Parton for past collaborations.

The deal was negotiated by HarperCollins CEO Brian Murray and Liate Stehlik, President and Publisher of the William Morrow Group. James Patterson is represented by Robert Barnett and Deneen Howell of Williams & Connolly, while Jimmy Donaldson is represented by Byrd Leavell and Albert Lee.
