Noida Mock Drill: Tonight, residents of Gautam Buddh Nagar, including Noida and Greater Noida, will experience a 30-minute blackout as part of a nationwide civil defense drill called ‘Operation Abhyaas.’ Scheduled from 9:30 pm to 10:00 pm, the exercise aims to assess public response and administrative readiness in emergency situations.

Noida Mock Drill Tonight: Check Timings
Noida: Residents of Gautam Buddh Nagar, including Noida and Greater Noida, will witness a complete blackout tonight as part of a large-scale civil defence mock drill being held across India. The blackout, scheduled between 9:30 pm and 10:00 pm, is being carried out under the nationwide emergency preparedness exercise ‘Operation Abhyaas’, aimed at testing public response and administrative readiness during wartime-like scenarios.
In a late-night decision chaired by District Magistrate Shri Manish Verma, the administration confirmed the blackout plan and issued a public appeal to follow the guidelines strictly.
What Happens at 9:30 PM Today?
A long siren will go off to signal the start of the drill at 9:30 PM. Everyone is expected to move to the safest part of their home, avoid standing near windows, and practise safety protocols.Households are advised to:
- Switch off all lights, including those in public and private buildings.
- Use emergency lighting like torches or glow sticks – but ensure windows are covered with curtains or cardboard to prevent light leakage.
- Avoid mobile phone usage near windows to avoid light visibility.
- Keep radios, water, dry food, essential medicines and first-aid kits handy.
- Immediately switch off gas and electrical appliances when the siren is heard.
- Ensure the safety of children and pets throughout the drill.
Tonight’s 9:15 pm siren will serve as the final warning to prepare for the blackout. From 9:30 pm, electricity supply at some areas of Gautam Buddh Nagar will be cut off for a full 30 minutes.
The district administration has urged people not to panic, to refrain from spreading rumours, and to treat this exercise as a vital step toward safety and national readiness.
