All Schools, Colleges Closed in J&K Till May 10 Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

Given the rising tensions between India and Pakistan, all schools, colleges and universities have been ordered to remain closed on May 9 and 10.

"All schools, colleges and universities in J&K to remain closed on 9th & 10th May as a precautionary measure. Stay safe," Sakin Itoo, Minister of School/Hr Education tweeted through her official 'X' (earlier known as Twitter) account.

Her tweet comes a few minutes after Pakistan escalated and India retaliated in late hours of May 8.

All schools and colleges in five border districts of the Jammu were also closed on May 8. "In view of the prevailing situation, all schools, colleges and educational institutions in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch will remain closed today," Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar had said earlier.

In addition to this, all schools and colleges in the Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab have also been asked to remain closed till May 11.

The Rajasthan government has also closed schools in five districts amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan. Government and private schools have been closed in Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Barmer districts as a precautionary measure, officials said on Thursday. All Jodhpur colleges were also ordered to remain closed.
