In a bid to amp up security, following India's Operation Sindoor, a total of 27 airports across India have been closed. Meaning, there will be no commercial flights here till Saturday morning. The date, however, can also extend if tensions heighten.
The decision was made after India struck 9 terror camps in Pakistan. This has disrupted air travel - both in India and Pakistan - as major air routes have shut down.

Additionally, many domestic airlines cancelled flights from Leh to Bhuj - due to its close proximity to Pakistan border. Additionally flight operations to Dharamshala, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Bhuj, and Amritsar have also been disrupted as major carriers — Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Air India Express — have issued advisories and cancelled flights. According to reports, more than 200 flights were cancelled due to airspace restrictions.
"Due to the ongoing situation, airports in parts of northern India, including Dharamshala (DHM), Leh (IXL), Jammu (IXJ), Srinagar (SXR), and Amritsar (ATQ), are closed until further notice. Departures, arrivals, and consequential flights may be impacted. Passengers are advised to plan their journey accordingly and check flight status," IndiGo said in a post on X.
Meanwhile, On May 6, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) also issued a Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) regarding an air exercise by the Indian Air Force. The government has given the armed forces “complete operational freedom” to decide on the mode, targets, and timing of response.
