Man Mistakes Crocodile For Statues, Enters Its Enclosure; Ends UP With ‘50 Stitches’ After Deadly Attack

A 29-year-old man’s casual visit to a zoo ended up with ‘over 50 stitches’, after he mistook one of the most deadly reptiles for a statue! Yes, believe it or not, the visitor- a man identified as Manila Bulletin- ended up entering a crocodile’s enclosure to allegedly get a picture, after he thought that the animal was a statue and not a real one. The incident reportedly unfolded at Kabug Island Mangrove and Wetlands Park in the Philippines’ Zamboanga Sibugay on April 28, Monday. To Bulletin’s horror, the crocodile turned out to be real, resulting in a deadly attack. As per a video on social media, the reptile started attacking the man’s leg and arm. The attempt to get rid of the predator went on for quite a while. From getting dragged to ‘death rolls,’ the crocodile seemingly did everything to maintain the upper hand.

Later, the man was reportedly rescued- however, by the time he was rescued, he had already received multiple serious injuries. As per Daily Mail, he got ‘over 50 stitches at Dr. George T. Hofer Memorial Hospital’.

The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the handle ‘XTechPulse’. The post was shared a few days ago and pulled more than 1K views from people.

“Why on earth are there no weapons in this place, for cases like these? In the rest of the world they sacrifice the animal, when there is no other option. How ridiculous,” an internet user commented.

“The only thing this guy mistook was how aggressive a crocodile can be. He knew it was real and thought he would be able to take it on,” added a second person. “So happy that he stayed alive. that they didn't shoot the croc, I mean,” added a third person.

“FAFO, he won't do it again,” added a fourth netizen “The man was really lucky is what he was- along with also being extremely stupid. What was he even thinking? Why would they place a plastic crocodile in an enclosure like that,” added another.
