PIYUSH GOYAL

A Cabinet Minister of the Government of India, Piyush Goyal holds portfolios such as Minister of Textiles, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. He is also a Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra. The 58-year-old politician earlier served as the National Treasurer of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Piyush Goyal also oversaw the publicity and advertising campaign of the BJP during the General Elections in 2014. He has also held additional charge of the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs twice in 2018 and 2019.

Piyush Goyal was born and brought up in Mumbai in an affluent political family. While his mother, Chandrakanta Goyal was a three-time BJP MLA from Maharashtra, his father, Ved Prakash Goyal served as the Union Minister for shipping in the 3rd Atal Bihar Vajpayee ministry from 2001 to 2003. He also served as the National Treasurer of the BJP for over two decades. A Chartered Accountant by profession, Piyush Goyal did Law in Mumbai University.
