Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has become the first Indian film to be honoured at the Leicester Square in London. The film will be honoured in the form of a bronze statue of SRK and Kajol's iconic DDLJ pose. An official announcement of the same has been made on social media.

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's 1995 film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, has unlocked new achievement. Thirty years since its theatrical release, it has become the first Indian film to be honoured with a bronze statue at Leicester Square in London. Interestingly, SRK and Kajol's iconic DDLJ pose will be immortalised as a statue. Heart of London Business Alliance officially confirmed the state will join the Scenes in the Square movie trail.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge honoured with statue in London

The statue depicting Shah Rukh and Kajol's iconic pose will mark the beginning of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge's 30 year celebrations. Aditya Chopra made his directorial debut with the 1995 film. The statue will be debut in Spring this year and it will be place along the eastern terrace, outside the Odeon cinema. The other locations of London show in DDLJ were Horseguards Avenue, Hyde Park, Tower Bridge and King’s Cross Station.
In an official statement, CEO of Yash Raj Films, Akshaye Wadhwani, spoke about DDLJ becoming the first Indian film to be represent in Scenes in the Square.
"When Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) was released 30 years ago, the film became a defining moment for Indian cinema and changed the face of the industry, capturing the hearts of everyone who saw it all over the globe. It also marks 30 years of DDLJ, a film that has spread love and joy globally and shows the cultural impact it has had in UK. We are honoured that our superstars and our film are being recognized on the world stage alongside the Hollywood elite, from Gene Kelly to Laurel & Hardy to Harry Potter. This statue will be a great way to express the international appeal of Indian movies and build bridges amongst communities through cinema," he said.
