Tom Cruise To Get Honoured With Knighthood From The Crown For His Contribution To Film Industry: Reports
Tom Cruise does not need an introduction. The Hollywood star gave us multiple hits and stunned us many more times with his impeccable acting skills. Now reportedly, the actor is being considered for a knighthood for his huge contribution to cinema. Read the deets below!
Tom Cruise to receive Knighthood?
According to the Daily Mail, sources close to the matter revealed that “Cruise's team have been sounded out” about the potential honour. The decision could be made as early as next month, coinciding with King Charles’ 76th birthday.
If Cruise does make it onto the honours list, he may be seen heading to the palace alongside his friend David Beckham, who is also rumoured to be in line for the same honour. While British citizens receive full knighthood, non-British recipients like Cruise can be granted an honorary title. This is the only form of knighthood the Crown can give to those who aren’t UK nationals.
Cruise, who recently turned 62, wouldn't be the first American to receive such recognition. The late Queen Elizabeth II previously honoured several prominent Americans with honorary titles, including filmmaker Steven Spielberg, actress Angelina Jolie, and philanthropist Bill Gates. These honours are awarded personally by the monarch as a mark of exceptional service or achievement.
Besides, there are reports that Cruise is also set to receive the British Film Institute (BFI) Fellowship on Monday. This prestigious award is given to those who have made outstanding contributions to film and television. Just last month, director Christopher Nolan received the same honour before being knighted by King Charles III.
Given the pattern, Cruise's upcoming BFI Fellowship may signal a similar path. His decades of success in Hollywood, global box office power, and longstanding ties with British cinema could soon earn him a place on the honours list.
