Varanasi To Kolkata In Just 7 Hours Instead Of 14: Here's How

Imagine travelling from Varanasi to Kolkata in just 7 hours instead of the regular 13+ hours! It could soon be a reality. The Varanasi–Kolkata Expressway, also known as the Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata Expressway, is a major infrastructure project that will boost inter-state connectivity. As the name indicates, the expressway passes through Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. It is a greenfield project designed to ensure smoother and faster travel between key regions.

It consists of four states—Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal—this expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance trade and mobility across eastern India.

The current distance between Varanasi and Kolkata is approximately 690 km, with a travel time ranging between 12 to 14 hours via existing routes. Once the Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata Expressway is completed, it is expected to cut travel time by nearly 50 per cent, bringing the journey down to just 6 to 7 hours.
