Chinnamasta Jayanti is observed every year on the Chaturdashi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakha. On this day, devotees worship Goddess Chinnamasta. It’s believed that those who undertake this fast with devotion have their wishes fulfilled and find relief from life’s hardships. "Goddess Chhinnamasta is depicted in a fierce and frightening form. That is why it is mainly practiced by Tantrics, Yogis and Aghoris. However, ordinary peoples can also worship Goddess Chhinnamasta to protect themselves from various kinds of calamities," states Drik Panchang.
Goddess Chinnamasta is known as a powerful deity who grants success in all endeavours. Devotees perform her worship with great reverence on this auspicious day in Vaishakh. According to Drik Panchang, "Goddess Chhinnamasta is the sixth of the ten Mahavidya Goddesses and belongs to the Kali Kula. Goddess Chhinnamasta is the Shakti of Kabandha Shiva. Goddess Chhinnamasta is also popularly known as Goddess Prachanda Chandika."
Chinnamasta Jayanti 2025: Auspicious Timing (Shubh Muhurat)
According to the Vedic calendar, the Chaturdashi tithi of the Shukla Paksha in Vaishakh month will begin at 5:29 PM on 10 May and will end at 8:01 PM on 11 May. Chinnamasta Jayanti will be celebrated on 11 May.Auspicious Yogas on Chinnamasta Jayanti
This Chaturdashi tithi will also coincide with several auspicious yogas, including Ravi and Bhadra yogas, which are considered especially beneficial. Devotees may also choose to observe a fast in her honour to gain the desired outcomes in life.Puja Vidhi (Rituals)
On the day of Chinnamasta Jayanti, devotees should wake up during Brahma Muhurat, and begin by meditating on the goddess. After tidying up the home, they should bathe with water mixed with Ganga jal (holy river water), then perform ‘achaman’ (ritual purification) and wear fresh red clothes.Next, set up a picture or idol of Goddess Durga in the prayer room or sacred space. Perform the puja of Goddess Chinnamasta with full rituals and devotion. Offer fruits, flowers, and sweets to the goddess, and conclude the worship with an aarti (ritual song) and prayers for peace and happiness.
