Who Is Jeffy Yu? Crypto Co-Founder Fakes Death, Found Alive At Parents' House

Jeffy Yu, the co-founder of the obscure cryptocurrency Zerebro, has been found alive at his parents' house in Crocker-Amazon after he appeared to shoot himself on a live stream. The supposed shooting was followed up with an obituary, which also announced the launch of a meme coin in Yu's honour. On-chain data from crypto analytics firm Bubblemaps revealed that accounts tied to Jeffy Yu moved up to $1.4 million in cryptocurrency after his alleged death.

However, the San Francisco Standard has now found the 23-year-old holed up at his parents' home in Amazon Crockett. “I’ve been doxxed. I’ve been harassed. If you can find me, other people can find me,” he was quoted as saying after being confronted by the Standard at his home. “Now I have to move my parents out of here this week.”

Who Is Jeffy Yu?

Jeffy Yu gained prominence as the co-founder of Zerebro, an AI-driven crypto project that reportedly reached a market capitalization of $800 million within six months of its launch in late 2023.

Yu entered Stanford University at the age of 15 to study computer science and later attended institutions like Northeastern University and Arizona State University. After than, he worked at companies such as Scale AI, where he delved into GPT-4o and other experimental multimodal models, gradually shifting his focus from DeFi to artificial intelligence.

His projects often explored the intersection of AI and music, aiming to redefine human-machine interaction through agent models.
